bows—one Spanish, one Icelandic one—I burst into tears. I couldn't believe all those people were there, together and smiling, for us. I looked at them as I clumsily walked down the aisle, holding my dress, arm in arm with my father, under the bright October sun. We were surrounded by people from every stage of our lives, who had made the incredible effort to travel from so many different places and who, as if by magic, had all gathered in that garden in a small village near Seville. At the end of the aisle, I saw my soon-to-be mother-in-law in a red hat and dress, and next to her, my future husband with his huge smile. At first, I hadn’t even thought about having a photographer, but a friend insisted on coming—and I’m so grateful he did, because those images hold emotions that would have slowly faded. That’s why I photograph weddings now: to give that same gift of memory. I’ll be there as just one more of those smiling faces, capturing everything with honesty, sensitivity and warmth so you can be fully yourselves.
